He helped her hold the mask into place, watching her frantic eyes relax as she realized that she was safe. He placed his left hand behind her head, steadying her as she swayed unsteadily on her feat. He smiled into her big brown eyes as they swam from the sedative she was breathing in. She tried to push the mask away but he held it firmly in place. She clawed at his arms, but the heavy material of his firemans jacket prevented her from leaving so much as a scratch. She was in the process of reaching for his face when she lost consciousness and slumped against him. Shaking his head, he grinned broadly as he carried her to the back of the van and added her to his earlier catches.
